Wow… over a month? What the hell have I been doing?!
Well… work is still work… still not f$^#%&g hired yet, thanks (mostly) to a lot of managerial “rearranging…” blech. I also think the company is just plain not doing that well. Come July I will have been here for a year and frankly, I’d like to at least stay until then so I can have something on my resume that’s lasted that long…
I… have a girlfriend. Shanna. From work, actually. We hadn’t talked at all but then she came with some co-workers to our gig at Maxwell’s a couple weeks ago and the rest, as they say, is history. :) I will say this, she is a vegan, which should prove for some interesting dates…
More Glint gigs, all through March, actually, except one weekend where we got snowed out… last night we played at the Knitting Factory. It’s three stories and a pretty cool building, a pretty revered place in NY music, actually. The “Main Space,” anyway. There are two lower floors/venues, the Tap Bar and the Old Office; we played in the latter and it went well, we sounded real good. Hopefully we’ll get asked back for an upper floor and a better night. It’s like the upstairs/downstairs “thing” at the Middle East in Boston. Sandy (a fan and friend of Jase’s/Adam’s parents) was stoked because this was our first gig listed on “ticketweb” or whatever so he ordered a ticket in advance and got one of those green and white legit-looking “general admission, Glint, the Knitting Factory” tickets. Heh. Kinda cool.
And, as promised, Sabrina has booked a gig for us (the side project)… Friday April 6th around 9:00 at her favorite Village venue, the Baggott Inn. Should be sweet. Since the group has only worked up 5 tunes, she’ll play half of the set solo.
Hanging out with Shanna has proved for/mirrored some interesting changes at work… I now have someone to gossip with about work drama/politics. Short of that, though, my group has been taking on more responsibilities recently so I am necessarily working with more people from different departments (including Shanna, actually, in a strange coincidence). I’ve been opening up more to coworkers… maybe it’s because my boss is quitting and I just inherently want to be friendly with more people, maybe it’s the new season… I don’t know. I do think Shanna has something to do with this… having her in the picture makes that which bums me out about work less all-encompassing. I remain level-headed, though, and am still reluctant to get too settled here (at work)… I’ve got ideas about where/what I’d like to be in the coming months and years (finally?), but the logistics need to be honed…
